"Hey did you read the email from school?" "No, let me study mom, I have so many chapters to revise!", I said. My mom then told me that my exams got cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. I could breathe now. My mind became numb with this sudden outburst of uncontrollable merriment. I kept dancing and jumping all around all through the evening.
But even the moments when I think of myself on March 9, 2020, I would be just saying one thing to my old self, "Your smile will go away soon, son".
No one could ever imagine how things would have changed. Everything got themselves terminated for life. We were forced jailed in our homes without any crime committed. Everyone had committed the crime except for doctors, nurses and government workers. But we all knew; they were the people who were in the grasp of the virus without any violations. It was us that were jailed by virtue for the first time in history. Wait, what was the name of the one who could not be named? Yes, the very well feared novel coronavirus (COVID-19)!
Anyways, what would you be doing if you were all at home? You would probably be watching the news to be up to date of the things in the country. But all that the news channels could blabber was about the mounting number of COVID positive cases and the death rate with a dash of news about the loss of jobs in the country. Oh, the drowning economy of our country, the cherry on top. It seemed like some monster had infiltrated into the earth in the form of COVID-19 and was spreading not only the virus but negativity, unhappiness and fear among people.
Days were troublesome, frightening and dangerous, but we all had to face the pandemic. People were staying at home in one corner and shivering with fear, right? Wrong.
But these times have taught us so many new things that we couldn't have learnt if things were normal. Let's start from the elemental part of our dwellings, 'the household chores', of course. Once dreaded by students of all ages, has now become something so common that the terror has just withered away into thin air. Even if we are at home, who's stopping us from using our very own artistic minds to create paintings, portraits, sketches, dancing, photography, music and a plethora of other forms?
We have become even more digital than before, using digital payment methods rather than cash which certainly was our Prime Minister's aim. These little things would surely help boost India's economy once things start becoming normal. We are using the internet to explore, discover and learn a concoction of various topics! Being able to meet virtually to continue with our work or school is like an angel of technological advancements. The situation has opened up infinitely many opportunities for us.
Lastly, we all know, 'every cloud has a silver lining' and even after such difficulties, we would undoubtedly come out victorious and restore happiness in the world. Now, where is the submit button?
"Arnesh, did you finish your assignment on your experience during the pandemic?" "Yes, ma'am!"
